Isla Fisher
Isla Fisher was born on February 3, 1976, in Muscat, the capital of the Middle Eastern nation of Oman. When Isla was a young child, her Scottish parents moved her and her four brothers to Australia. There, inspired by the literary achievements of her novelist mother and the encouraging words of her banker father, Isla was permitted the freedom to follow her own path.
Even as a primary school student, Isla was using her free reign to pursue a budding interest in acting. By age 9, she was appearing in Australian television commercials, her first gig coming as an extra in a lottery ad. From then on, Isla realized that acting truly was her passion.

Fisher’s first serious role came in Home and Away, a soap opera series in which she played the seductive Shannon Reed from 1994 until 1997. By the time that Shannon was finally written off the show (the writers had her run away with a lesbian lover), Isla was looked upon as a full-fledged hottie. In fact, in 1998, readers of FHM voted her as the 11th sexiest woman in the world.

Even as men worldwide were drooling over her, it had been well established that there was much more to Isla than met the eye. In 1996, she had written two teenage-targeted romance books: Bewitched and Seduced by Fame were both hot sellers in Australia, and their publication proved that Isla was an all-around star.
Ever intent on further improving herself, Isla moved to England and began a regular commute across the English Channel to attend acting school in Paris. From here, she starred alongside Keira Knightley in a miniseries adaptation of Oliver Twist, a handful of theatrical presentations and several episodes of the kids’ show Scoop. She began a well-publicized relationship with fellow actor Darren Day, and the two were even engaged for a brief period.
Her frank accounts of her other relationships with celebrities of the day, including multimillionaire Sir Evelyn de Rothschild, were goldmines for tabloids, and Isla soon became a popular news figure for reasons other than her good looks.

In the early years of the new millennium, as she was filming the miniseries Hearts and Bones and the German horror flick Swimming Pool, Isla began seeing Sacha Baron Cohen, an English comic known popularly as Ali G. The two became a serious couple and were engaged to be married in 2004.
When Cohen signed a deal with HBO to take his act to television sets in America, Isla came along. The couple moved into Jennifer Aniston’s old house, although she kicked them out to move back in after her breakup with Brad Pitt.

Residing in the heart of the American entertainment industry, Isla soon began hooking up great roles. She played Mary Jane in Scooby-Doo (2002), had a big role in the English comedy The Wannabes (2003), then returned to America to star with Jeff Goldblum and Selma Blair in the artsy flick Dallas 362 (2003).
Isla held down a small role in the existential film I Heart Huckabees in 2004, then went on to appear alongside Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in 2005’s The Wedding Crashers.
As Isla and fianc Cohen become more comfortable in the U.S., expect to see this cute redhead in an increasing amount of roles and magazine spreads. The future looks rosy for Isla.
